Course description
------------------
Blockchains are the distributed databases behind the now well-known cryptocurrencies. 
This concept appeared first with Bitcoin. Since, a wide and complex ecosystem of actors, technologies and use-cases has emerged.

This mini-course aim to teach you the basic concepts behind blockchain and smart-contracts. Through practical sessions and
programming, you should be able to better understand the technical realities behind blockchain-related projects.


Educational expectations
------------------------
After the end of this mini-course, you should be able to:

* Understand the key concepts behind blockchains
* Understand how transactions are processed on a blockchain network
* Understand what are smart-contracts and how they relate to blockchains
* Develop your own basic smart-contracts

We will apply this new knowledge in the context of virtual power plants.

Prerequisite
------------
This course expect basic skills in programming, especially with Python.
