Before, I was a research engineer at Davidson Consulting, working on Cloud applications energy efficiency. Even before, I was a PhD student at IMT Atlantique, working on better understanding the energy consumption of blockchains.

Course description#
Blockchains are the distributed databases behind the now well-known cryptocurrencies. This concept appeared first with Bitcoin. Since, a wide and complex ecosystem of actors, technologies and use-cases has emerged.
This mini-course aim to teach you the basic concepts behind blockchain and smart-contracts. Through practical sessions and programming, you should be able to better understand the technical realities behind blockchain-related projects.
Educational expectations#
After the end of this mini-course, you should be able to:
Understand the key concepts behind blockchains
Understand how transactions are processed on a blockchain network
Understand what are smart-contracts and how they relate to blockchains
Develop your own basic smart-contracts
We will apply this new knowledge in the context of virtual power plants.
Prerequisite#
This course expect basic skills in programming, especially with Python.
